The Gimli International Film Festival is pleased to announce the hiring of Alan Wong as their new Festival Manager. Alan will be working under Festival Director Aaron Zeghers, to facilitate Manitoba’s largest Film Festival in July of 2021.
Alan was born in Winnipeg and has lived abroad but came back to Manitoba for its strong family ties and supportive arts community. He comes to us from the film world, having worked in many areas of the industry for over 10 years. He has a strong arts administration background, having completed the Manitoba Arts & Cultural Management Certificate program at the University of Winnipeg.
Alan is a passionate advocate for local arts & culture and serves on two executive councils for community organizations – as Secretary of the Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba, and Vice-President of ACTRA Manitoba, the local union chapter of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Brandon University and is an award-winning vocalist and filmmaker.
