The GFF programming team is once again looking for the best contemporary cinema from Manitoba, Canada and around the World, both feature and short films.  This includes narrative, documentary and experimental films, as well as feature films and short films from anywhere in the world!

**NEW in 2019**  GFF is looking for projects that fit our special focus for 2019: Cinema Outside the Box.  This 2019 theme seeks to press the boundaries of traditional cinema and as such we are seeking your expanded cinema, multi-media installations, multi-channel, performance art and virtual reality projects!  Please feel free to email us directly if you have an appropriate project and/or submit for free via our special Cinema Outside the Box submission option on FilmFreeway.

Gimli Film Festival is committed to paying all filmmakers who are selected to screen at our Festival, and we actively work to keep our submission fees low to encourage accessibility and inclusion from low-income and marginalized communities.  If in doubt, please contact us!

If you have any questions or comments about the film submission process or anything else, please feel free to reach out to our programming team anytime: submissions@gimlifilm.com

What to Expect at Gimli Film Festival:

The Gimli Film Festival (GFF) annually screens over 100 films, and in 2018 we saw our largest attendance ever, with over 12,400 filmgoers attending the Festival’s events.  In 2019, GFF will continue our spotlights on the best contemporary Canadian, Icelandic and International cinema.  We will also continue our focused series on Woman-driven Cinema, Social Justice Documentaries, Indigenous Perspectives and of course a strong focus on Manitoba-Made Cinema.

As an organization, the Gimli Film Fest is actively working to promote accessibility for all and inclusion that accurately represents our diverse culture.  We also are working hard to ensure our organization is employing an ethical business model, which includes proper treatment and payment of all staff and contributing artists, as well as being an active contributor to the local community and the greater Manitoba film community.

In addition to paying all filmmakers proper artist fees (either IMAA fees or fees dictated by film distributors), we also do our best to provide affordable film submission fees to encourage participation from low-income and marginalized communities.  If finances are prohibiting you from applying to our festival we encourage you to contact our programming team.

For questions, comments or concerns about the submission process, please contact our programming team at: submissions@gimlifilm.com
