The 21st annual Gimli Film Festival will offer much of the same virtual programming as in 2020, with some new socially-distanced events! We are excited to announce the return of our virtual lineup of over 100 films on GFF On Demand, fuelled by Red River Co-op! Plus, don’t miss our first-ever RBC Sunset Drive-In Theatre. In 2021, take advantage of our brand new Super Pass that grants access to unlimited film unlocks, interactive workshops, and a VIP Virtual Opening Reception. GFF will align our operations to follow all public health and safety guidelines to ensure the safety of our community above all.

For the 21st anniversary, we’re announcing an extended runtime for GFF On Demand. From July 12 – 25 enjoy watching double the amount of films with double the number of days this summer with GFF.
Want to watch MORE than the usual 20 film cap this summer? Well, you can! Buy a Super Pass and access unlimited film unlocks, interactive filmmaking workshops, as well as a VIP Opening Reception and concert in a VIRTUAL town of Gimli!

RBC presents a special Sunset Drive-In Theatre for this year’s 21st anniversary. Drive out to our Drive-In Theatre in Gimli from July 21 – 25 for evening screenings under the stars. Screenings begin at 10 PM with two additional midnight screenings on Friday and Saturday.

We will be hosting a handful of collaborative and interactive Virtual Workshops, events, and Livestreams including:
Manitoba Shorts In Competition, a battle amongst some of Manitoba’s top short films and filmmakers to see who will take home the Short Film Competition crown.
48 Hour Film Contest, a contest showcasing 18 new short films from local emerging filmmakers that were made in 48 hours or less.
This year marks the 10th annual RBC $10,000 Emerging Filmmaker Pitch Competition, with a milestone of $100,000 raised for local emerging filmmakers. Submit your application by June 4 for your chance to win $10,000!
To celebrate the milestone of support for our pitch-winners, we are excited to announce a special Film Retrospective that will showcase the past 10 pitch-winning films.
