Home Cooked Music
Written and directed by Mike Maryniuk
Gimli Film Festival
Friday, July 24th
Gimli Lutheran Church Theatre
Home Cooked Music will be screened as part of the Canadian Short Films program.
Filmmaker Mike Maryniuk & subject Lorne Collie will be in attendance with some of Lorne’s crazy creations for all to try.
And please join us after screening at Gimli’s Ship and Plough
for a good ol’ jam session – all musicians welcome!
Home Cooked Music profiles inventor and craftsman Lorne Collie and his
whimsical stringed instruments – made out of unlikely items such as
shovels, rakes, baseball bats, and stop signs. In Lorne’s hands, these everyday items become beautiful and functional guitars, violins, banjos, and fiddles.
After the Friday, July 24 screening of the short film “Home-Cooked Music”, Winnipeg filmmaker Mike Maryniuk and his documentary subject Lorne Collie of the Interlake will be on hand for a Q&A, followed by an impromptu jam session using many of the unique household instruments featured in Maryniuk’s film!
